ScrapJi focuses on inclusive climate action that strengthens communities often left out of formal waste and climate systems. We bring informal-sector workers, including former kabadiwalas whose businesses declined due to market changes, into a structured, technology-driven recycling network. By providing steady volumes, clear pricing, and organized logistics, we help these workers regain income stability and respect while formalizing their role in reducing methane emissions.

We also support gender inclusion in our work. Women play key roles in segregation and sorting, which helps create safer working conditions, structured payments, and recognition within the value chain. By formalizing these roles, ScrapJi turns waste work from informal, hidden labor into organized climate action jobs.

The organization is led by young people. It was founded and is run by two 27-year-old entrepreneurs who are dedicated to building scalable, community-focused climate infrastructure. As local leaders, we represent a new generation driving decentralized climate solutions from the grassroots level.

By involving informal workers, prioritizing women’s participation, and showing youth leadership in climate entrepreneurship, ScrapJi ensures that efforts to reduce methane are not just environmentally beneficial but also socially fair and empowering for communities.
