Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Our project is rooted in empowering climate-vulnerable and underrepresented communities, particularly women and youth in marginalised communities and rural farming areas in Kenya. These groups are often disproportionately affected by climate change, yet excluded from climate innovation and economic opportunities.
Our model intentionally integrates them into the core of our value chain. We train and employ women and youth in the production of our plant-based packaging materials, equipping them with technical skills in green manufacturing and providing stable income opportunities. At the same time, we work directly with smallholder banana farmers, many of whom are from low-income and marginalised communities, enabling them to earn additional income from agricultural waste that would otherwise be discarded.
Within our organisation, representation is a priority. A significant portion of our production team consists of women and youth from underserved communities and we actively create pathways for leadership and skills advancement. By embedding inclusion into both our operations and leadership pipeline, our project ensures that those most affected by climate challenges are not just beneficiaries, but active participants and drivers of climate solutions.

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to prevent methane emissions by transforming agricultural waste, such as banana pseudostems and sugarcane bagasse, into sustainable, plant-based packaging materials as an alternative to the conventional plastic-based packaging materials, while creating dignified income opportunities for smallholder farmers, women and youth in underserved communities.
