Project Summary / Description:

We are dedicated to mitigating methane emissions in Agrifood systems by promoting sustainable agriculture practices through climate-smart agriculture. Our mission is to empower smallholder farmers, communities, and vulnerable populations to adopt regenerative agriculture practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve food security, and enhance resilience to climate change. This work is important because methane is a potent greenhouse gas that is 28-34 times more warming than CO2 over 100 years. Nigeria's growing livestock population and urbanization exacerbate food waste, increasing methane emissions. secondly, methane contributes to climate change, affecting agriculture, health, and livelihoods.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

The Sheepfold of Christ's initiative empowers underrepresented groups in the climate movement by:
- Inclusive decision-making: Ensuring women, youth, and community leaders have a seat at the table
- Targeted capacity-building: Providing training and resources to women farmers, youth, and vulnerable communities
- Job creation: Employing locals, including women and youth, in biogas production and maintenance
- Community-led solutions: Supporting community-driven projects, amplifying local voices
