Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
ECP empowers underrepresented groups, particularly youth, by equipping them with accessible, science-based education about food systems, climate change, and the environmental impacts of industrial animal agriculture. Young people are often excluded from formal climate decision-making spaces, yet they will live with the long-term consequences of today’s food systems. Our education packages center youth as informed change-makers, strengthening their knowledge, critical thinking skills, and confidence to make values-aligned, plant-forward choices that reduce methane-intensive demand. Our programming is delivered in diverse public and private school settings, including Title I schools (40%) and communities disproportionately affected by environmental and health inequities. By connecting food choices to climate resilience, public health, and environmental justice, we make climate engagement tangible and actionable for students from a wide range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Organizationally, ECP prioritizes inclusive hiring practices and equitable leadership development. Women hold key leadership and programmatic roles, and our educator network reflects a diversity of lived experiences and geographic regions. By amplifying youth voices, expanding access to climate literacy, and embedding inclusion within our staffing and outreach strategies, ECP strengthens representation and participation in climate solutions.
