Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project places underrepresented and climate-vulnerable groups at the center of both implementation and leadership. Women, youth, and low-income community members—who are often disproportionately affected by poor waste management and climate impacts—are actively engaged as waste collectors, digital platform users, and local coordinators. By providing training, tools, and leadership opportunities, we empower these groups with income-generating activities, digital literacy, and climate action skills. Women, who frequently manage household waste, play key roles in monitoring plastic hotspots, organizing collection drives, and facilitating recycling linkages. Youth are mobilized through schools and community groups to use the digital platform, report waste, and drive awareness campaigns. These roles not only give them agency in local climate solutions but also foster skills in data collection, community mobilization, and environmental stewardship. At the organizational level, our leadership team reflects diverse representation, with women and youth involved in decision-making, operations, and digital innovation strategy. Community advisory committees include voices from marginalized groups to ensure inclusive project design. By centering the knowledge, labor, and leadership of underrepresented groups, the project not only mitigates methane emissions but also builds equitable climate action, creates livelihood opportunities, and strengthens resilience in communities that are most vulnerable.
