Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our work starts with smallholder rice farmers, because that’s where this problem sits. Most farms in India are under 2 hectares. These are climate-vulnerable communities dealing with water stress, heat, and unstable yields and they are excluded from climate finance. This includes groups that are often overlooked such as women working in rice systems, younger farmers trying to stay in agriculture, and broader rural communities who are directly exposed to climate risk but rarely benefit from climate funding. We’re not trying to layer something abstract on top. It's very simply, if a farmer changes how they irrigate and this reduces methane, they should get paid for it. That only works if it’s practical and trusted and this is our goal. We work through local partners and spend time on the ground to make sure adoption fits how people actually farm. As we scale, we want to hire locally, including women and youth as field agents, and make sure participation isn’t limited to the largest or most connected farmers. Thankfully rice farming is incredibly fragmented, which is good for this (but also brings other challenges!) In summary, this only works if it’s built with these communities, not around them.

Mission Statement:
Scale AWD across India’s 46 million hectares of rice cultivation, and build the infrastructure to deliver rice decarbonisation as a service—making methane reduction measurable, scalable, and financially viable for farmers at national scale.
