Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
At Kiasili Farm, we see the heart of our work in the hands and stories of people often overlooked—the women, youth, and farmers living with disabilities who quietly power our food systems but face the harshest brunt of the climate crisis. Women and Youth Empowerment: Meet Maria, a young mother in Kiambu County who struggled to make ends meet on her small farm. Through our training and marketplace, she’s now growing Indigenous crops that thrive in her soil and feed her family while earning an income. Maria’s story isn’t unique; it reflects the resilience of women and young farmers we work with, providing them tools to rewrite their narratives—on their own terms. Empowering Farmers with Disabilities: Then there’s James, who lost his mobility after an accident but found new purpose through Kiasili Farm. With accessible tools and techniques, James is now composting and cultivating food for his community. He says, “I thought I’d be forgotten, but Kiasili Farm reminded me I can still grow and give.” Cultural Resilience: Our work with Indigenous and traditional crops isn’t just about agriculture; it’s about pride and belonging. When we help farmers grow crops their ancestors nurtured, we’re restoring more than land—we’re restoring identity. This is impact measured in lives transformed, dignity restored, and hope sown alongside crops. We’ve reached 100 households, composted 4 tons of organic waste, and worked with 15 farmers, but our true success is in stories like Maria’s and James’s—proof that climate solutions can be personal, powerful, and inclusive. We don’t just want to change farming; we want to change who gets to thrive in the future we’re building.
