Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
An aim is to “arm” traditionally underserved communities in Asia and other emerging markets who have not had access to high quality data in their language, to support locally-driven energy infrastructure dialogue. Taiwan uses more coal-derived energy per capita than any other country, with plans to augment coal-derived energy. On any given day, at least one community on the island suffers from extremely unhealthy air quality, from particulate matter from burning coal. Communities need fair, unbiased data to drive policy for investment in decarbonization and low-carbon sourcing that can also support public health. The same is true for localities in mainland China. The team is networking with legislators in Taiwan for information sharing and contributing to a net zero report which will be presented to the Taiwan government with an action plan to achieve goals. Our team is half women, half men, with leadership primarily from Asian communities.

Mission Statement:
LowCarbonPower’s purpose is to advocate for all low-carbon technology without bias, primarily through cataloging every country in the world’s energy use through a carbon lens and then utilizing tech tools to compare country analytics. By doing so, we can draw new audiences into the carbon dialogue and inspire policy shift.
